Dynamite partners analyze the present and future of quantum simulators in the QUANTUMatter 2023 Conference

The third edition of the Quantum Matter International Conference – QUANTUMatter 2023 took place on 23-25 May 2023 in Madrid. The conference aims to bring together the members of the different communities involved in science and technologies of quantum information and quantum matter in order to promote the generation of new, cutting edge ideas and partnerships in quantum technologies, emerging quantum materials, new generation protocols in quantum communication, quantum sensing, and quantum simulation.

Two members of the Dynamite project, Maciej Lewenstein and Monika Aidelsburger were a central part of the event program.
Maciej Lewenstein, ICREA professor at ICFO and PI of the Dynamite project, was one of the conference’s keynote speakers. Lewenstein gave the presentation entitled “The Coming Decades of Quantum Simulators”, in which he explored the potential of quantum simulators in the decades to come.
Another Dynamite partner who participated in the event was Monika Aidelsburger from Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. As an invited speaker, Aidelsburger contributed to the conference with the presentation titled “Quantum simulation with ultracold atoms – from Hubbard models to gauge theories”, an exploration of quantum simulation techniques to study complex many body problems by using well-controlled quantum systems, such as ultracold atoms in optical lattices.
